The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment & Research (NSICTR) in Lahore represents a historic advancement in Pakistan’s healthcare system. Dual Leadership Role: Chief Oncologist and CEO
The Government of Punjab has opened applications for the highest management position at NSICTR – a dual role that combines clinical expertise with executive leadership. The successful candidate will serve as both Chief Oncologist and Chief Executive Officer, driving the institute’s development while maintaining clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities
The Chief Medical Team Lead will have a comprehensive scope of responsibilities, including:
Strategic Development
- Oversee the phased establishment of clinical, research, and administrative units
- Develop and implement protocols aligned with national and international oncology standards
- Establish operational, financial, and administrative foundations for sustainability
Clinical Leadership
- Build and manage a skilled oncology team focused on excellence in patient care
- Ensure adherence to international standards of cancer treatment
- Guide the implementation of cutting-edge treatment protocols
Research and Innovation
- Direct the institute’s research initiatives and agenda
- Foster collaborations with local and international cancer treatment experts
- Advance Pakistan’s contribution to global oncology research
Public Engagement
- Represent the institute at public forums and professional conferences
- Advocate for advancements in cancer treatment
- Engage with stakeholders and secure donor support for facility expansion and research initiatives
Qualification Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- MBBS or equivalent qualification recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in oncology or related fields (FCPS, FRCP, MD in Oncology, or equivalent)
- A Master’s degree in Hospital Management is preferred
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Oncology with proven senior leadership experience
- Experience leading an academic medical institution or heading an Oncology Treatment center
- Strong publication record in international indexed medical journals in oncology
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and donor relationship management
- A passionate commitment to advancing cancer treatment and research in Pakistan
